Offering youth the opportunity to learn, discover, grow, and develop in a safe and positive environment through their involvement in the Club’s youth programs, like the HMGC Junior Golf Programs, are an essential element of our identity. Youth at Highland learn to set and achieve individual and team goals while staying fit, having fun, socializing, making friends, and developing coordination, discipline, and confidence.

The primary goal for all of our Junior Golf Programs at Highland is to develop lifelong golfers with a passion and enthusiasm for the game. Our golf professionals strive to promote skill development, principles, enjoyment, and interaction among the juniors, through new activities, skills competitions, play days, and games.

  • The traditional Junior Program begins in June and ends in August with the Junior Club Championship. The Junior Program includes instruction, prizes throughout the year, and the Junior Club Championship.
  • The Advanced Development Program, which targets the 12-18 age group focuses on specialized skill development, course management, and different play days. Those planning to play competitive golf are encouraged to take advantage of the lessons learned in this program.
  • Mini-clinics for the beginning golfer have been designed to focus primarily on the fundamentals of golf including grip, stance, set-up, full swing, putting, and short game.
  • The Club’s Junior High League is fun and competitive program that has been expanded to include two Junior High Leagues. The first begins in June with the other beginning in September.

Juniors and parents are always encouraged to stop into the Pro Shop to ensure that the junior is well fit with the proper equipment for the program or clinics.
